As we near the end of 2018 we are still working hard to try to close the gender gap in the workplace. Women continue to face obstacles in relation to sexism and inequality. What many people don’t recognize is that companies that embrace gender diversity perform better than those that don’t.

What other benefits does equality in the workplace have? Other than ensuring women have equal right and equal opportunities, of course.. Gender equality is not specific to women. It is an “everyone” issue. The purpose of pushing equality is to ensure every employee (man or woman)  has access to the same benefits and opportunities. Equality for all means being inclusive of trans and genderfluid employees employees as well. What jobs are available in gender equality for the upcoming year? Here’s our list of the top 5!

1 – GE in STEM

GE recently announced that they are looking to hire 20 thousand women in science, technology, engineering and math roles by the year 2020. The announcement is part of their gender diversity target that they believe is an important step towards their digital, industrial future. Not only are they looking for women to take over in these STE roles, they also want to have an evenly split representation (men and women) in each of its technical entry-level programs.

2 – UN Women

UN Women is a United Nations organization that is dedicated to  gender equality and women empowerment. The organization was established in 2010 and is continuously looking for people to fill job positions worldwide. UN Women has a lot to offer its employees including a leading global gender agency, a brilliant and diverse community of gender equality advocates, and meaningful work to empower women and girls around the world. 3 – UNICEF

UNICEF (or The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund) is an organization that was established during World War II to aid children of war. Their mission is to promote the rights and wellbeing of every child. They have implemented a new goal to their mission is to change attitudes towards gender biases and promote gender equality by erasing gender barriers that young boys and girls are faced with everyday. UNICEF is accelerating gender equality by addressing the gender-specific discrimination and disadvantages. 4 – UNDP

The United Nations Development Programme is the United Nations’ global development network with a headquartered in New York City. UNDP helps people from around the world build a better life by advocating for change and connects countries to knowledge, experience and resources. The organization has implemented a strong ‘leaving no one behind’ concept for their 2030 Agenda for Development. Established in 1947, The World Health Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations in relation to international public health. The organization strives to to improve gender equity in health and to address women’s rights to health.
