Support and Information
Highlands
A project to raise awareness of equality issues in the Highlands & Islands offering advice, information and training. It publishes a newsletter, monthly e-bulletin (with Highland Council), and offers road shows to business and groups explaining equality issues.

Alliance
Working to confront domestic abuse. It has published the Domestic Abuse Strategy.
Part of the National Childcare Strategy. This strategy aims to help people back into the workplace by removing the childcare barrier. The ChildcareLink service is funded by the Department for Education and Skills and the Scottish Executive

The Close the Gap project covering all of aims to tackle stereotyping and job segregation, and raise awareness amongst employers and employees about their rights and responsibilities.
Engender is an information, research and networking organisation for women in Scotland.
A forum for women to engage in debate about issues of concern. It responds to consultations, and has policy groups, currently Women & Health, Poverty, Women & the Criminal Justice System, and Violence against Women.
The Glasgow Women's Library provides information by and about women. It library houses a huge collection of materials by, for and about women
Scottishbusinesswomen.com is a website for enterprising Scottish women with information on starting or running your own business.
The STUC co-ordinates, develops and articulates the views and policies of the trade union movement in Scotland. It represents represents around 630,000 trade unionists, the members of 46 affiliated trade unions. It has a Women's Committee which campaigns on issues which affect women, such as poverty, the gender pay gap and domestic abuse.
The SLF is an independent, non profit organisation committed to raising the quality of leadership in public life. It has a Women's Voices Network aimed at senior women who want to take charge of their leadership development.
Awards grants up to £5,000 for projects which improve the quality of life of women and girls in .
WOW runs pre-vocational training courses for women who live in the Social Inclusion Partnership areas of Edinburgh, as well as courses for disabled women and courses for black and minority ethnic women. As WOW is not based in one particular geographical area we are able to direct our work to areas of greatest need.
AMINA - Muslim Women's Resource Centre
Amina promotes the welfare and social inclusion of Muslim women in Scotland, based in Glasgow. It works with Muslim women and mainstream agencies, to fill the needs of Muslim women and make other agencies familiar with those needs.
Glasgow Women's Library is a provider of information by and about women. It is a popular meeting place for women and its creative, supportive environment acts as a catalyst for projects, friendships and laughter.

Aurora is a private
London -based network for corporate and entrepreneurial women. Activities include business development services for women, a monthly newsletter and networking forums. It uses ‘gender capital indicators’ to rate business for their commitment to gender equality in the workplace.

The Fawcett Society has its roots in the suffrage campaigns of the 19th century and works for a society in which women and men are equal partners at home, at work and in public life. They have an e-bulletin, available on their website or it can be sent direct to you.

Prowess is a network of organisations and individuals who support the growth of women's business ownership. Its work encompasses raising awareness, sharing of best practice, advocacy and information. It publishes the e-zine 'Women's Enterprise (UK) News'.
BAWE (British Association of Women Entrepreneurs)
A non-profit professional organisation for UK based women business owners affiliated to the world association of women business owners Les Femmes Chefs d'Entreprises Mondiales (FCEM). It provides opportunities for networking, mentoring and training, and a website for marketing and advertising.
The Women into Science and Engineering (WISE) campaign promotes science and engineering as a valuable and interesting career option for women. WISE has a range of initiatives and publications to give girls and women more information about opportunities and careers in SET.

The European Women's Lobby (EWL) is the largest coordinating body of national and European non-governmental women's organisations in the European Union, with over 3000 member associations in the 15 Member States. The EWL's goal is to achieve equality of women and men in
Europeand to serve as a link between political decision-makers and women's organisations at EU level. The website contains information on European gender equality policy and legislation, campaigns, position papers and international gender equality issues.
The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) prepares recommendations and reports to the Council on promoting women's rights in political, economic, civil, social and educational fields. The Commission also makes recommendations to the Council on urgent problems requiring immediate attention in the field of women's rights. The object of the Commission is to promote implementation of the principle that men and women shall have equal rights.

Based in America, but with international membership, the site has materials and resources for issues such as personal development, equality issues, career issues, and a learning club. There are interesting discussion topics and quotations, and some useful free material. Worth a browse.
GWIN is a global network which aims to increase the number of innovative women embracing enterprise. Its goal is to find effective ways of bringing support, assistance, tools, advice and information to assist women in achieving significant growth in their businesses. It is a subsidiary of the Professional Family Woman's Network Ltd based in the UK.
Charity dedicated to helping women in developing countries to improve their lives. It supports various projects througout the world - including the UK.
The Fairtrade Foundation is the independent non-profit organisation that licenses use of the FAIRTRADE Mark on products in the UK in accordance with internationally agreed Fairtrade standards. Fairtrade benefits many women internationally.
