Making your Voice Heard...in your Local CommunityVia the Community Council
Most communities have a community council which were set up to make the views of communities known to the local authorities. Many are very active and actively consult the views of the community. Others are less effective. You can raise issues or comment on current events to your community council. Better yet, think about becoming a community council representative. VolunteerThere are many organisations within the community which need volunteers. School PTAs, Citizen Advice Bureau, Hospitals, environmental groups, community associations: all need local people to work together. Many can have a direct impact on women’s lives, for example out of school clubs or playgroups or caring help for the elderly.
