Lochaber

Co-ordinator: Ruth Powell

The Lochaber meetings are held from 12noon – 2pm at the West End Hotel in Fort William, usually on the last Thursday of the month. We have 178 women on the Lochaber database. The women attending come from a range of diverse backgrounds, from employers to self –employed, from isolated home carers to women running care initiatives. People travel long distances to attend the meetings, and we have experimented with different venues, days and times.

The atmosphere at our meetings is always friendly, and our speakers often comment on the easy interaction.

Action for South Africa (ACTSA) for several years has campaigned to provide women in Zimbabwe with sanitary products. Pads or tampons cost more than 50% of the average monthly wage in Zimbabwe. Yet without safe sanitary pads or tampons women and girls cannot work or go to school, or risk infections. Find out more and how you can help from their website.
