Posted on: Monday 6th October 2014The UK joined forces with 24 other countries on 22 September to push forward women’s economic and political empowerment. At an event in New York, hosted by the US Secretary of State John Kerry and the Chair of the White House Council on Women and Girls Valerie Jarrett, the UK was welcomed as the newest member of the Equal Futures Partnership. Nick Dyer, Director General at the Department for International Development, outlined the UK Government’s plans, which include measures to tackle the gender pay gap and increase the number of women in senior positions in the public and private sectors. UK representatives will be given the opportunity to share these plans with the other member countries and hear their views and ideas on how women can play an equal role in the economy and society as a whole.
