CareerWISE Initiative - request for employer participation CareerWISE initiative - request for employer participation

CareerWISE is a Scottish Resource Centre for Women in SET initiative aiming to encourage more girls and women to consider science, engineering and technology careers by providing female school pupils and students in college or university with information on the types of career opportunities in SET and the route into these sectors through work experience and work placements.

SRC are looking for employers who operate in the IT, technology, engineering, science, or built environment sectors and who are committed to gender diversity to:

• Provide one week work experience placement for girls in S4 between September and December 2014
• Provide paid summer work placements for female undergraduate SET students between June and August 2014 that range between 4-12 weeks placements

This is a unique opportunity to promote your organisation to female students and establish connections with talented women at all stages of education that are keen to bring their skills and talents into SET industries in Scotland and help your business develop.

By participating in the initiative employers will benefit from increasing your profile through PR opportunities to showcase your organization as an employer of choice for women in SET and to develop good practice in attracting and recruiting female talent. Employers will also be awarded a SRC accreditation in recognition of your commitment to diversity at the end of the programme in February 2015.

Can you or your organisation help inspire the next generation? If so, please contact Joanna Glenfield of SRC at j.glenfield@napier.ac.uk or 0131 455 2267.
